…An E-shoot in NYC!
OK, I have really been looking forward to this e-shoot for absolutely AGES! These cool kids live in the same town as me (well, its actually a city now), Newport, South Wales.
They were quite happy for me to choose the locations and boy did we have some fun, I laughed so much. They also introduced me to “planking” however, after googling it, I now realize that “owling” is the new Planking haha.
They are getting married this friday and I’m so excited to be capturing it. Anna’s brother is actually marrying them too, how cool is that!
Meet Lyndsey & Mike, a lovely young couple totally in love with each other.
They are getting married next month in Newport (my home ground!).
For their e-shoot they wanted to make it very nostalgic, a sightseeing trip down memory lane. I have to say, they are also the most organized couple I have met to date; I knew we were heading to Bristol, what I didn’t know was they had mapped out every location they wanted me to shoot in, Excellent! They included Mike’s student digs, the zoo (1st date), the Severn bridge (where many tears were shed as Lyndsey lived in Wales and only saw Mike at weekends) and a host of other locations that to you and I will have no real significance but the them, its means everything and a lot more.
You may have realized my blog has been a little quiet of late.
I’m not sunning myself on a deserted beach, quite the opposite. I’m shooting weddings every weekend, and my weekdays are filled with meetings, e-shoots and editing.
I’ve recently been contacted by quite a number of magazines & wedding blogs all wanting to feature my work. Its all very exciting however, where do I find the time to do all this! Argh!! its frustrating. I need a PA, intern and a host of other people to help me (C.V’s to email@example.com ha ha).
now….back to Carla & Martin. At this stage, I’m going to say very little about these 2 amazing people.
This e-shoot was taken a few months ago and because of the interest I’m getting from wedding blogs wanting to feature my work i’m only going to show a few images from this shoot. There will be a full write up of it appearing soon along with their wedding. Stay tuned….its going to be fabulous! (just think of a great love story, guns n roses, come dine with me, a Jenny Packham wedding dress, clowns…the list goes on….) AMAZING COUPLE, AMAZING WEDDING!
I was introduced to this cute couple via a recommendation from Emma Philips Bridal in Carmarthen. A beautiful art deco inspired bridal boutique with outstanding service. Thank you ladies xxx
Katie & Tom are getting married next month. They first met many years ago while both working in M&S (Tom was her boss!). He’s now a paramedic & Katie is an Occupational Therapist.
For their engagement shoot, they were happy for me to choose the location. They loved my previously shoots in Barry Island but I was keen to find an equally cool place that I hadn’t photographed before. And boy did I find a gem! (thanks to my husband).
Wales really does have some stunning locations for us photographers!
I wonder if you can guess where it is?
Alicia & Richard are getting married in the USA next year. We met at a local wedding fayre, got on so well and they loved a shoot I did at Barry Island: https://mariafarrelly.wordpress.com/2010/04/25/miss-universe-gb-2010-finalist-sophie-gibbs/ It was one of my favorites from last year and it seems to generate a lot of local interest. I’m guessing its mainly because a lot of locals can’t believe its actually Barry Island. I love old seaside resorts, there is so much inspiration, character and history all around. Its places like this we all have some kind of memory of particularly as a child growing up. Barry Island Rocks!
It was great to hear Richard compliment my work so much, he grew up in Barry and loved seeing the island captured in such a cool way. They both decided as they were getting married in Alicia’s hometown in the States that it was fitting to have their engagement shoot in Richards hometown.
My only dilemma was having already shot there, I never like to repeat shoots. So the challenge for me was to create a totally different set of images. Thankfully Alicia had it all worked out. She knew exactly what she wanted them both to wear which then made my choice of locations far easier (I love collaborating with my clients!).
I decided to start the shoot on a stretch of beach which is normally very quiet however, when I arrived it seemed everyone in Wales had decided to visit Barry Island that day. It was heaving! I spotted Alicia & Richard waiting for me, they looked like a glamorous Hollywood couple and I felt like I was on assignment for Hello magazine LOL.
I must give a huge thanks to “Nessa’s slot’s” amusement arcade for staying open for us to shoot around the 2p machine and the bingo area! Also to the cool guy with the biggest Afro i’ve ever seen on a man who was operating the “Terminator ride” thank you so much for letting Alicia and Richard use the ride alone (I know you like to fill it).
What makes these images really special for me is that they are going to be used for their Wedding invitations. I can’t wait to see the finished results!
So here is a selection of my favorites from our shoot. Take a look and feel free to leave a comment. I hope you enjoy looking through these images as much as I did shooting them.
When Michelle & Lewis suggested a woodland theme for their E-shoot I had just the place in mind! Cwmcarn Forest drive. I’ve been coming here for years and every-time I visit I still get blown away with its landscape. Not only is it so inspiring with breathtaking views but its less than 10 minutes from my front door. Perfect!
I met Michelle & Lewis last year, they booked me through a recommendation (my favorite type of client!) We clicked straight away and I cannot tell you how excited I am that their wedding is only a few weeks away now!
I’d like to introduce you to the fabulous Lesley-Ann, she loves Danny (husband to be…in 2 weeks!) and carrots. I love these guys. So much fun to be around and I cannot wait to photograph this wedding!
They had their first date on Penarth Peir, so it made perfect sense to start our shoot there. They also spend a lot of time at Cosmeston Lakes which is just around the corner from their home.
How lucky are we to have all these gorgeous locations right on our doorstep here in Wales!
I’m getting very exciting about shooting this lovely couple’s wedding next month in Cowbridge. Here’s a small selection of images taken from our pre-wedding shoot a few weeks ago.
I like to give my couples the option to have their shoot where ever they want (in the hope that one day one couple will suggest New York!). For Alison & Matt, they chose a place close to home; The Museum of Welsh life, St.Fagans.
I’d never shot there before and its fair to say I was blown away with this place. I LOVED it!!! Its been a favorite of theirs for years and I can totally see why. We spent a few hours walking around finding some amazing places to shoot but at the same time getting to know each other and “breaking the ice” before the wedding
I hope you enjoy these images as much as they do x
